"...but I don't need a gun class..."
Would you want those words repeated to a jury?
Idaho is a great place and part of what makes it great is the traditional gun culture raising and life, from hunting, to self-defense, to just plinking .22 with the kids on the back 40. We do like guns in Idaho! That's a good thing, but when it comes to defending one's life or perhaps another loved one is that what really counts, or does it count against us? You see being a 'gun nut' can quickly evolve into just being a 'nut' when justifiable self-defense comes under question. What will matter to a judge, jury, and prosecutor is not whether you can prove you like guns, have a lot of them, or are a great shot, but whether or not you have invested yourself into doing your best as a law-abiding AND conscientious citizen by educating yourself and your continued training.
There is no more widely recognized firearm entity for both advocacy and education than the National Rifle Association. Here at Eternal Vigilance, we start with a foundation of NRA-certified courses, which are very thorough in ensuring we are educated when it comes to gun ownership and use.
So, if you had to defend your life with a firearm and stand before a jury, wouldn't it be nice to show them some credentials that prove you take safe and successful firearm ownership and self-defense seriously?
Taking a class doesn't mean you AREN'T a good shot or highly knowledgeable, what it does mean is that you take your self-education or training seriously...and you can prove it in court.
So, again, would you want it repeated to a jury your words, "...but I don't need a gun class..."? Probably not!
